No disrespect to the 2210, just thought I would steal the subject line for the 2210's little cousin. Considering the money spent for this tractor and bucket I thought I would put it to use. My neighbors probably think I'm looney. This tree or what use to be fell on the neighbors car one stormy night so this stump has been an eyesore for awhile. I doubt I will get it out in one peice but this machine has amazed me with it's ability to dig. I have been pretty abusive so far and everything has held up well attesting to the quality of the JB.
I have lifted both the front and back of the tractor with the tooth stuck under a root. Please don't show this to JD as not to void the warranty /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Based on my experience with big stumps, it looks like you are about 15-20% of the way home with that baby. Kinda' like an iceberg when they are that old.

Even with a 2210 and now a 4110, stumps that size sometimes require a little old-fashioned encouragement. My favorite tools are an old splitting maul and a 6' digging bar. Cut through a few big roots with the digging bar and maul, dig a little with the loader, and cut through the next set of roots. You'll get it. The next question is what to do with a 1,500-pound stump once you get it out of the ground. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Right at the moment, I am at a loss as to what tool you have hanging on the front end of the X585. I got JB (which I thought was JD with a typo /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif )..

What is it? And, why would it mess up the warranty on your X?

Looks like it is doing a big job for you. That is apparent from the pic.

Johnny Bucket

I know Johnny Bucket makes front slip scoops for smaller GTs, and maybe for the X series--don't know. They are really designed for moving light/loose materials. They will dig, but... /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif

Yes-it is a Johnny Bucket Sr. It does use the hydraulics on the X series. It does not have the lifting height of the FEL but is also less expensive. It does dig! If I was to do it again I would spring for the extra money and buy the FEL in order to get the load height. Also the X585 weighs in about 955lbs net(no fuel, operator or cutting deck) so is light duty for heavy lifting or digging.

I have always heard that Johnny Buckets are well-made. They've been around for quite awhile. What is the real-world lift capacity of the Senior?

The specs say 300 lbs but I have lifted the back of the tractor by curling the bucket and me in the seat /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif There is one cylinder for lift and 2 for curl. The one cylinder will lift the front of the tractor and I have had the bucket full of 1ft.sq patio block which made the back end light.

Well after much sweat it finally came free. I managed to get it out of the hole but am unable to lift it in the bucket. Since I can curl the bucket with the teeth under the stump and lift the back of the tractor with me on it, I'd say it weighs over 800lbs. Now the trick is to get it to the burn pile without tearing up the yard. /forums/images/graemlins/smirk.gif
