ok--- I'll add the highlight of my evening...
I have an 82 yo widowed neighbor hat has a rather large family. most are usually very buys, and of course most of here children are my parents age.. and her grandkids and even some of her GREAT grandkids are my age..
Few of them ever come by, and she is quite active despite her age... a little less than 2 years ago she got a knee replaced....
anyway, we share part of our driveway-- I keep is scraped in the winter, and clean in the summer from the washes from rain and trees debris...
during a couple of power outages over the winter, I helped her and even helped one of her Daughters draq her over to her house where they had power...
anyway--- todays good neighbor story----
After spending Thur/Fri evenings till dark cutting the weeds on our driveway she asked if I would help her cut the flower bed down..
flower bed, well that is a misnomer....
it is a kind of a rectangular 10x15 area on a slight incline...
I cut it all down and raked the "hay" over to the bucket of the tractor and dumped it over a bank...
she tried to pay me, and I declined...
then on a second or third attempt to pay me, I thought I would try the come on now none of your family would charge you line.....
then I remembered, that 2 of her Grandsons did lawncare, and another is a handy man of all sorts....
DANG... She replied, "sometimes I pay them too"
"Well I am just not going too."
I was tired, dripping in sweat and just felt good....
sometimes the most enjoyable things in life are just being helpful.
I think that movie "Pay it forward" has a great story!
