THIS is the reason we should NEVER give up our right to bear arms in the USA. YOU are the only person responsible for your safety.
I really feel for all the folks living in the bush, how exactly does one subsistence hunt with the direction the PM is taking the country. Somehow I don't expect much cooperation from the rural sector in Canada.

I figure, the Constitution gives me the right to protect myself and my family and my state agrees. Very sorry for the loss of life there and pray for healing.

God loves Texas. We are able to open carry in a holster or carry concealed with a license. I carry concealed. I don't particularly want anyone to know I'm armed. I also started carrying a small tear gas/pepper/UV dye spray canister. It's small enough to fit in my pants pocket or hold in a closed fist if I'm not comfortable with the surroundings. It's capable of spraying 10-12 feet. It's VERY effective in changing someone's mind about picking on an "old man".

For home defense, anything past a double action only, .38 revolver with hollow points, is over kill. They can sit for years, with no attention, and anyone can very quickly figure out to use them. The political schism is if any one needs a military weapon. I use to think they didn't, till the pandemic, and Jan 6th. So some military weapons got pulled out during the pandemic, and some got pulled out after Jan 6th, but they have all now, been put away in deep storage again. Back down to that one gun, a simple double action revolver, that can last in the drawer forever, till called upon.
No one, and I mean, no one, ever needed anything more, to fend off a home invasion by one or two crazy persons with a knife.
They were invited in, as any good Canadian Native of the Cree would do.
