If that was a Yugo instead of a Belarus you wouldn't be asking for advice. You'd know it was junk right from the factory. Same with the Belarus. I see lots of Belarus bargains in the classifieds.

The odd (actually not odd) thing is that those same bargains seem to be available for months on end. You couldn't give me that tractor.

I don't mean to be a bully to Belarus since I have only owned one, but I wouldn't make that mistake again. About four years ago I had the opportunity to buy a 57 hp Belarus 400A with 400 hours on it. I jumped at the chance and paid $2,200. I thought I stole that tractor. Turns out somebody stole my $2,200. It has been nothing but headaches and the closest dealer is 220 miles away (which is close compared to some places of the USA). When it runs, it is a powerhouse. When it is broken down, it is useless. I have had 3pt hitch problems, hydraulic problems (leaks) transmission problems, and electrical problems.

Please don't base your tractor purchase on mine, but I am just stating my experience.

By the way, anyone want to buy a Belarus with low hours on it? I'll sell it really cheap!

My buddy has a Belarus. It's the worst tractor I've ever seen. It breaks down on a daily basis, and parts are hard to find, and EXTREMELY expensive. The reason the deal is so good is that no one who knows about them wants one. And the reason it only has 400 hours is probably because it was broken down so much that's all the owner could get out of it.

Do yourself a favor, and stay away from it!!!

Tim, have you been to the dealers lately. They only want 10% down and some offer 0% financing for 3 years or 2.9 for 5 years on up to 6% for six years. For less than $2,000 cash you can have a brand new tractor with implements, and 2 to 3 years warentee. Monthly payments will vary on what you finance, but less than a new car. I was looking at used, tyring to find a bargain and discovered the really good long term deal is buying brand new.

The biggest problems with the Belarus brand on awhole seems to be whether or not the selling dealer knew what they were doing or not. The dealers need to just about tear the tractors apart and rebuild them for the pdi on the tractors. It also is advisable to completely rewire them to our standards. It is not just the Belarus tractors that are this way,most brands from behind the former Iron Curtain are this way,outside of the Zetor/ZTS tractors.

The brand is definately not for a person who detests leaks and turning wrenches. Also they are not a very good choice for a one tractor show. But as a back up/extra tractor they are livable for the low price.

I owned a Belarus 420 AN with a Bushhog front end loader for about 5 years, and at the end of 5 years it was in much better shape than when I started with it. I never actually had any large mechanical problems; the engine never leaked or burned a drop of oil in 5 years and probably about 500-800 hours (not certain, because the hour meter/tach was broken when I got it). I would echo the comments that I would not want to make a living with it, but if it is a part time/back-up tractor and you don't mind messing with leaky mechanical stuff, and you can get it really cheap, I'd buy it. If I were to come across another one really cheap, I might buy it, but armed with the knowledge that it will need a complete electrical upgrade, fussy leaks and noisy as he**. I never had any problem getting parts (Beshears in Alabama had everything that I ever needed in stock - with the exception of an air filter that was back ordered for about a week - and I didn't think that the prices were any more outrageous than any other tractor parts - they are all expensive).

Make a low ball offer and see what you get.

Too badly... Got a chuckle out of that one.

The only Belarus I've ever seen was on a local NH dealer's lot. Would have taken it, but the amount of money he was willing to pay me to haul it away wasn't enough though.

Hello fellas, I agree on Beshears. They order Belarus parts straight from the company. So, parts are available in the US still. The Belarus tractors performed well for me, still have a 32hp one, can't kill it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif Most of my neighbors run them and are happy. None of us have had the wiring problems etc. We all bought from Beshears, maybe they are better with these Belarus tractors.

Very loud, rough, tough and low priced. $4000 will get you 80 + hp with attachments, the resale is very low since the importer went belly up. I almost bought a 4wd last year with a loader. Ended up with a L4330 Kubota GST, I'm spoiled now /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

I am short on funds, but long on technical skills, and my farm is more hobby than vocation - sounds like the perfect match for a Belarus.
