I have seen a few mentions of Belly Mount mowers on the compact tractors and I'm wondering how these are driven..

I know that the small garden tractors use a belt drive off the tractor PTO shaft but wondered how this is accomplished on something like my Jinma 204..

It is driven from the pto at the rear, a short shaft attaches to a 90 degree gear box and a long belt runs up under the tractor to the blades. I brought in a couple and they had guide wheels, others I have seen do not. careful adjusting of the top link will result in the mower lifting vertically when the TPH is raised and lowered. If your 204 is a 2 cylinder, the guide wheels will sometimes rub against the front wheels of the tractor when you go in reverse, I think the 3 cylinders longer wheel base may eleiminat that. I have one and had it attached to a FarmPro 2WD truf tire model.

The belly mower is not to difficult to put on and off, but is not as easy as a rear mount finish mower. If you have a fairly flat lawn (it is not a full floating deck) and your rear tires are interfereing with proper cutting, the belly mower may be a low cost ($ 1200 or so) solution. It has severl locations for mounting pins to adjust to different tractors, could probably be fitted to lots of makes as the TPH does all the mounting except two chains at the bellhousing.
