Mowing Belly Mower for 186D

I may not be able to repair the top link to my 3PH. (see Top plate Woes thread) If not, could I still ise a belly mower? What would fit, and where can I find one?

I realize that it would have to be driven by the rear pto, and mine has tho speeds, 540 and 1000.

Regarding your attempt to fix your top link attachpoint, have you also considered drilling and tapping two new bolt holes inward of the two rear facing broken holes? The solution that you have come up with I think is a good one, but you could also use all the added strength you could get. It would also be ashame not to use this valuable flat area that could still add a lot of strength to the overall solution. If this was already recommended, I'm sorry I missed it Or, if something has already been discussed that invalidates this as part of the solution.....sorry I missed that also....

If I'm not mistaken, the OEM belly mower for the YM186D was a 5' Woods run from an electric clutch on the front of the tractor. If it is like the YMM45 I have (original for the YM135, YM155, YM155D) the lift mechanism uses cables attached to the 3pt upper arms and some pulleys mounted where the 3pt lower lift arms attach to the transmission/axle housing. The cables ran from the upper lift arms around the pulleys, around pulleys on the deck, and back to the tractor above the deck.

So the answer to your question is YES, you should still be able to use a belly mower. I don't know if Woods still makes the model for your YM186D or not. Try Len Sheaffer.

Here is a web page that has pictures and spec. for Woods belly mowers to fit the 186.<A target="_blank" HREF=http://www.tractorbuddies.com/>Woods mowers</A> I thought I remember Len saying that Woods didn't make the mounting kit anymore. I also thought I remember Len saying he had some in stock but that was a while ago.

I have seen a 186D which had a Woods mid mount mower that ran off a big pulley on the PTO and the deck raised on cables that ran back to the 3 point lift arms.
