Re: Belly Mowing with Grand L 3X10\'s
GlennMac,
Your first question is a little embarassing as it forces me to admit I have never removed the deck as I am not scheduled to pour concrete in the bottom of my barn until this fall and with out concrete I do not think I could move the deck around. Driving over the deck was mentioned to me at the dealers but he recommended pulling it sideways from under tractor, ugh! I will check manual and update if drive over is recommended. The deck is built like a tank with flat bottom and wide steel plates covering where the front tires would cross over the deck.
Removing it is by pulling 4 pins and disconnecting 2 lift chains all fairly accessible. Dealer recommends that I use FEL to lift tractor to gain clearance on front swivel wheel posts and then pull out sideways, a friend recommended that I place a "roller plate" a steel plate with roller balls on one side, underneath the scalp roller. I plan on trying that as soon as I can locate a "roller plate" to buy.
This deck definitely is not as convenient as the "B" series decks but it is built considerably heavier.
I have dug hundreds of feet of ditches with my 3ph 4690A backhoe and moved over 50yds of dirt and another 30 yds of mulch all while the mmm was still mounted and pinned up. Pinning is a very simple and in the front of deck on both sides easy to get at and takes about 15 seconds or less per side. The bh does need to be dismounted inorder to lower the mower.
