I have a friend who bought an antique grist mill that is operated by a belt. He has a Kubota and was wondering if Kubota built a belt pulley that attaches to the pto. I don't know model of tractor. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif

I've never seen a belt pulley on the 3 pt. Usually on the side of tractors, though some had one on top of the differential facing rearward.

I suppose you could make one, using a gearbox/pto/3pt. I'd think it would be easier to modify the grist mill (which if it's antique, you might not want to do) by taking the pulley off of it and installing a PTO shaft so you could hook it direct to the tractor.

I've seen guys hook up for belt operations, and it's not a simple process. Things have to be pretty straight or the belt goes off the pulley.

If you hook up a PTO shaft, be sure to either anchor both machines or better yet, hook them together. You wouldn't want them to dance apart and have the PTO shaft flopping about whacking stuff.

I remember the belt pulleys too well. Since I am over 50 I can remember several pieces of equipment that we used on the farm. We used an Oliver88 to power a grist mill, cut-off saw, saw mill and silage blower.
I bougth a grey market NH 3930 and the operators manual had a picture of a belt pulley attached to the pto. We owned an Oliver55 that the belt pulley attached to the pto. Several antique and vintage tractors had rear pulleys such as the JD M, 40, LA etc, International cub and A.
