First off let me say I am new to the tractor and attachment world.

I am wondering what the situation was when you bent or broke a rear blade, box blade, rake or any other attachment.??

What gear were you in.?? How fast were you going.?? Was the attachment light duty or heavy duty.?? What did you hook up with.??

I just wonder because I have raked and used a rear blade and I can't imagine how I could stave up equipment.?? I tend to go very slow (helps with quality) and the one time I did snag a root it slowly turned me sideways and then went into spin mode.

I am curious about the specifics when equipment gets damaged. Is it cheap equipment or heaven forbid me.....the operators fault.??

Be honest.

most of the stuff I've torn up.... i've torn up.

I have had a couple implements with nuts that came loose, and one with a hefty cat 2 lift pin that sheared for no apparrent reason.. but other than that.. I've been pretty lucky. I think once i bought my welder and chop saw.. things stopped breaking.. :)

Difference is some can drive a piece of equipment and others are operators. Finesse, feel and a touch.. it comes with practice.

I bent one of the threaded stabilizers on my BX2350 when I had a rear blade on it. I'm pretty sure I did it when I backed into a tree with the corner of the blade hard.

Getting up speed and making a run at it will prolly break a lot of things. Jerking a chain to get something to move is an example too. Steady loads usually won't cause any failures.

The only breakage I've come close to was a result of the loss of pins where the wire pins get ripped off in the brush. I've replaced all with bolts and lock nuts.

The other thing is to know what kind of leverage one has, and where that pressure will cause failure to occur. Rear blades being pushed in reverse put undue stress and strain on the lift arms in compression and the sway bars or links trying to hold them straight.

The only thing I have bent to date was the tail wheel fork on my rotary cutter. I have no idea how did it because I had been backing into heavy brush all day. Put the fork in a press and its good as new ready to be bent again.

Pushing backwards with a blade should be done with care. It is not as strong off of the 3 point hitch in reverse.

Pushing dirt back pretty fast with the BB and catching a stump that was cut off just below groun level. That'll wake you up! Heck - just catching one going forward will get your attention.

I find this thread to be somewhat ironic.....

When someone posts a question on the purchase of an attachment 18 guys will speak up and say "buy the heaviest, strongest attachment that you can afford. I have busted lots of equipment trying to save a buck, now I buy the good stuff. Be prepered to visit your local welder often."

This thread is telling me if you go slow and pay attention the attachment will last a long time without issue. Although, we haven't heard much from the guys that have busted equipment and moved up to the "good stuff" so that they can go fast and not pay attention. Where are they.??

I will continue to use my CountyLine equipment with care in order to "save a buck." My $319 rear blade has performed as well as an $800 LandPride blade.

Anyone get my point.??

While working with the loader I backed into a stump that was cut off at ground level. Just managed to snag the BB. Cracked the paint on the BB TPH attachment. So chalk that one up to carelessness. I did finally pull that stump.
