The photo appears to show spare holes higher up on the bucket where the loader arms could attach to.
If that were possible it would have the same effect as lowering where the cylinder attaches. You would lose a little lift height but gain some dig depth.
As for the flexing of the rod I too would suggest looking for something binding or coming to the end of it's pivot range.
