It was a bad day. Went to my sister's house to pull stumps and bent the bucket cylinder. I saw some hydraulic fluid and thought I pinched a hose. The photo pretty much shows the damage. Any suggestions on repair would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

once bent they will keep on bending. Your best solution is a new cylinder rod and packing kit.

spencer200, thanks for the info. I priced the complete cylinder and was quoted $485. Tuesday I will price just the rod and packing. Thanks again.

Sorry to see what happended to your bucket cylinder. Can you describe how it happened? I have been digging out some fairly big stumps with my NH 757C bh and I am always worried that something on the hoe is going to break. Is there a certain technique to stump digging that will minimize the chance of damage? I try to dig a little farther away from the stump where the root are smaller.

The complete cylinder part number is sml48250 and only list for 450.89 the packing kit number is sml41555 and list for 29.34 the rod part number is sml48251 and list for 105.41. Sounds like your dealer may be doing a bump up on his list prices. If you have some patients ask you dealer to put the parts on his stock order this generally takes about a week. The dealer gets an extra 5% of his cost and there is no freight charged. Ask him for a 10-15% discount if he is going to stock order them for you. if he will not send me a private message I will get them for you for less than his quote.

mswanson, after removal of the cylinder and a tear down we found the internal piston was broken as well as the shaft that was bent. It appears the damage occurred when the stump hit the piston while pushing on the stump. I am going to replace the entire cylinder assembly and chalk it up as one very expensive lesson.
