Great minds think alike but clearly yours is on backwards!!! Haha just kidding.

Glad it has a track record with a few of us.

How are the stabilizer bars doing? I am getting ready to ditch the old welded ones and get new ones. I thought I would come back to this page and see what you all posted. Thanks.

Always use the slotted holes in the adjustable stays when brushhogging. The shredder has to move back and forth or it will break the stays or worse, bust your transmission housing.

From the tailwheel to the 3PH is a lot of distance and provides a huge amount of leverage.

You get that tailwheel up against something, especially when turning, something has to give.

This is the photo that was posted 3 years ago that has worked out well for me. This is a 3600 Ford and the bush hog is a twin spindle a 7 ft bush hog brand.

I gave $2 for two collapsed stabilizer bars from Days go by and just cut the ends off drilled the hole and used the cheapest tractor supply chain so it offers more stretch.

RNeuman has left the building. I was just looking over this thread after Bill posted on mine. Does anyone use any of these stabilizers?

yeah those stabilizers on the 15,16,1500,1600 are all the same and seem to be all to sloppy. everyone seems to be breaking them for various reasons.... im sure anything other than that type is better lol. my 2638 has a turnbuckle style and so far been good but i haven't used it much at all.... :(

I just ordered the ones from ag supply. The ones Bill had welded are hard to slide and line up. Since I am having to do this, I thought get what is easier for me. Thank you.

I have found that the problem always occurs backing up, at least with me. Backing up the bush hog or backing up to close the tedder bends them😔

Well I had the temp fix for a few weeks and finally found a nice ā€œpermanentā€ replacement. So far so good. I used the box for an hour or so to both push and pull and they seem to be holding up fine. Time will tell! I found a few bushings to go from the 7/8ā€ hole down to the 1/2ā€ pins on the link end- but that’s just my OCD and probably not needed.

Is this the correct way the stabilizer should be mounted? I just bought some myself and I've seen the two different pictures and so I'm confused now. šŸ˜€
