Unless Kubota uses a strange diameter, the shops use a stick that they cut to the right length.

This statement is only partially correct. Walmart did buy the property, but Ronnie is still selling parts for Kubota tractors. Without going into the details, he continues to offer the same great service that he has given in the past. I spoke with him about a month ago and everything was still on track then, so barring any unforseen stumbling block, he will be around for a long time to come.....

You can try a local hydraulic cylinder repair shop, but dont be surprised if it costs more than a new cylinder would run you from the factory.
I bent both of my Woods 1016 bucket cyliners (speeding backwards with the bucket edge down and caught a large stone) 'dope-slap'
Both rods were bent - my local dealer had one rod in stock for ~$175
The local hydraulic cylinder repair place wanted $100 - 125 each to remove the old rods, clean install new rods and leak test. I would have to order another rod, wait for it and then wait for the repair shop to do the work - a week of downtime minimum.
I called the Woods factory and they had two complete cylinders in stock but could not sell directly to me. I asked them who the nearest dealer was that they liked to work and I called that dealer and ordered the cylinders and paid with a credit card - they drop shipped them directly to me and they were on my front porch the next morning - $229 each plus shipping of $23.00 -

Junkman - Thanks for the update on TractorSmart and the LA723 manual. I guess I misunderstood the person I spoke to at TractorSmart, I thought he said he was directing his business to another online Kubota parts dealer. Anyhow the cylinder is listed on TractorSmart parts, $371.10 - ouch....
As for damage, the rod is bent, the end cap, which I presume is screwed on is broken. I will check with a hydraulic repair shop first.
Do most tractor dealers give you an option ie; have cylinders sent out for repair over a new cylinder?

The problem is not the diameter. The problem is that the end of the rod has the pivot clevis welded on the end of the rod. This is a Kubota unique rod. Sure a shop could take some chromed rod stock, machine the piston end to match, cut off the clevis from the bent rod and weld it on to the new rod beig sure it is perfectly perpendicular. Yes it could be done, but I think you would be much better off with the OEM part.
