I caught a root with the blade angled, and bent the index plate (or maybe the spindle it rotates on) on my 3PT Grader Blade. Now im unable to angle it fully in one of the directions. Has anyone ever had this happen? Can it be bent back by backing the blade into something? (I havent tried this due to fear of making it worse/breaking a weld). Thanks!!

I doubt the top plate bent. More likely there is a nut on the bottom below that zerk fitting which has allowed the blade to spin. Repair by force is not suggested. Figure out what moved and move it back, properly.

Yep ^^^ what he said.
Backing the blade into something may break something more expensive on the rear of the tractor.

I agree 100% which is why I havent taken it to the demolition derby. But there is no nut, and I cant seem to figure out how the blade was put together. It is a welded box that the “trunion” rides on/in. If anyone can identify the brand of blade so I might be able to find an exploded parts diagram, that would be great. There are no MFG tags on it. Closest I can find is maybe a Behlen comparing the look of the slide on the back of the blade.

Looks like a leinbach line. If the welds on the tube aren’t broken, you might have to open up the box to see what mystery it holds.

I have a similar blade that has a nut on top.
I had one like yours before and did the same thing. Backing up and caught a tree root.
If I remember right they are assembled then welded.
The only option is to torch or plasma cut the index plate loose from the tube then realign it before welding it back.

I hope that Im wrong. But I would look in the box like D D said first.

Can you unbolt and remove the blade? If you get access and clean it it wouldn't surprise me to find a weld or two(?) that let loose. From the pics it seems that you should be able to see a lot.

I dont think it is broke, it is just bent/warped because ive still been using it after it happened.
From what I could see, there is nothing inside the box except the OD of that Trunion that it is riding on. Ill have to take the blade off this weekend to get a better look. I can’t imagine that it is welded after assembly, but I am also NOT a welder! Thanks for the help folks!

Look at your last picture. The pipe weld is clearly broken on the bottom. Just needs realignment and welded.
