Not really sure what I'm doing wrong. Seems like ever since I got the 4320 I'm beating this thing up. Bent the tail wheel about a week ago, now this!![]()
It looks like you backed into a solid object with applied side force.
Ouch,
How did that happen? Something fall on it? Or did you hit an obstruction while making a tight right turn? Are you lifting the shredder before making sharp turns?
I'm having a hard time imagining how that could have happened.

That is nothing but major operator error...and please lock up the kids and pets while you are on a tractor...srs.
My old JD 72" brush hog pretty much did the same thing. I swapped out that crappy flat steel for angle iron and it NEVER happened again. The original design was weak. Way too much force to apply to flat steel. If you can do some basic welding and /or have access to oxyacetylene torch to bend some angle iron, its an easy fix.....maybe 1-2 hours with JD green paint to finish it off.
Check my post on another thread regarding the use of chains, it looks like there is no means of allowing movement at your top link attachment point.
The downside to reinforcing your braces is that force will then be transmitted to your tractor; may be a problem, maybe not, but one TBN member broke the 3PH attachment point on his tractor.
I find it is often better to avoid applied force than brace for it.
I may just be pushing this implement a bit too much.
The flat steel is not very impressive that's for sure. Once it starts to bend it's all over.
I like your solution, just wish I was set-up for it
Larry, believe it or not there is a slotted link between the arms and the braces (hard to see in the photos). I also figured this would allow for enough movement. Some how it just got bound up and bent itself.
I really wonder if I shouldn't replace the bent items, take off the braces and go with chains..
