Ive got an old 2 bottom plow that has a bent lift pin. I can't seem to break through the 25 plus years of rust to remove it, even using an impact wrench. Any suggestions on how I might bend it back or remove/replace it..??

Im gonna try to post some pics tonight.

Thanks in advance.

We used a torch on ours then replaced it. If you bend it back the pin will often break.

If you don't have access to a set of torches, a cut-off wheel for a 4 inch grinder and a good steel chisel will take it off. Just cut a knotch across the nut and use the chisel to split it off.

PaulInMi,

Couldn't hurt to try some penetrating graphite oil. Spray it on and let it sit overnight. A reciprocating saw with a metal cutting blade might work well too.

There is a penatrating oil out there called Kroil. My local auto mechanic swears by the stuff. I'm not sure where he gets it as I have not seen it in stores. I'll ask him next time I see him.

Penetrating oil products such as Aerokroil and Silikroil (has silicone added) are produced and sold by Kano Laboratories, P.O. Box 110098, Nashville, TN 37222-0098. Phone 615-833-4101, FAX 615-833-5790. I have used Silikroil for several years and am very pleased with the results. You have to order direct from them.

Thanks for the feedback. I usually only need it in small quantities, so I can just get a little from the garage when I need it. Nice to have freinds in the auto mechanics trade./w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Aerokroil is a wonderful invention. Like WD40 on steroids. Spray it on, let set for 1/2 hr or so, and things just seem to come loose.

Try Kano Labs. We buy it by the case at work, so a can or two going awol isn't noticed. /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif

Kroil can be obtained from Cabela's or Lock, Stock & Barrel both are major mail order hunting and fishing equiment suppliers. (LS&B is just guns and related equipment.) Both have their own web site. The people that reload their oun ammo and or shoot bench rest use this stuff to clean and protect rifle barrels. I have used it and it is great stuff.

PB blaster oil is good too.. and can be bought off the shelf.

He might try heat.. but understandably it will lower the strength of the pin.

A nut chissle or threaded nut breaker ( threads drive a wedge into the nut to cut it. ) might work.
