Bent my PTO shaft

Hey all I was using my PTO power washer today and bent the shaft quite a bit when I raised the 3 point arms up to far .
The shaft has to much of a bend to repair so I need a new shaft.
How do I figure out the length of the old shaft ( it is extended and will not retract)? I have until the begining of Dec. to get a new shaft, before I have to clean out the chicken houses. At least I was done before I messed up.

Measure from the end of the shaft, with it connected to the PTO on the tractor , to the tip of the washer spline. You will probably have to get a longer one and cut to fit. You can also buy just the slip shaft stock and cut the old one off and weld the new shaft stock on. It isn't as hard as it sounds. At 540 it doesn't have to be perfect. I have done it several times and have had good results.

Yes you CAN buy PTO shaft and tube, but mail order only at least in the are I'm in (PNW). Try Baum Hydraulics. No one stocks the stuff around here. They can all "order it". bjr

I'm lucky I guess. I have two Rural Kings and a Tractor Supply within 15 miles of me. Both have all the parts to make a shaft from scratch.

Thanks for all the replys. oliver due you work at Southern Farm Supply, or just find them to be good people to deal with. I am only about 15 min. from them. Never got the chance to stop in.

I don't work there but have bought parts there before. I also bought a used RM-48 Woods mower from them. They are OK as far as I know. Have not heard any bad reports from farmers in the area.
