Indy,

Yeah, I think that is what probably happened. And you're right about it not being for the faint of heart. Ever been going down-hill when the stump jumper hits a stump and bounces the cutter about 4' off the ground? With the angle of the hill, the cutter looks almost verticle rising up behind you. /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

Hobby,

The scratched paint and dents give it character. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

Mr. Leather Neck, I think you're using the bush hog too rough:)) Just from an old ARMY man.

So, how much torque did it take to remove the nut? I see your big socket and extension. Just wondering if you had a breakover bar or used an air impact.

Kyle,

If you look close in the first picture, you can see the impact wrench. It is rated for 650 FT/LB loosening torque and 550 tightening. 1/2" drive using a 3/4" drive socket and adapter.

Wow!

My blades tend to bend up, rather than down... probably due to repeatedly bashing half buried rocks. It's generally not as dramatic a bend as yours. After a time, it does tend to allow the blades to slam up into the underside of the deck the next time I hit a good rock.

Anyone had any luck straightening these back out? I'm wondering if it's worth trying to put it in a hydraulic press.
