Bermuda Seeding

   / Bermuda Seeding #11
I planted 10 acres of bermuda when we built our house. I used a cheap pasture grass that germinates in like 4 days to hold the soil and broadcast the bermuda at the same time, and then use a spike too harrow (upside down with spikes up) just to put a minimal amount of soil over the seed. Bermuda can take 3-5 weeks to come up, depending on rain patterns.

In your case, I would disk it LIGHTLY just scraping the soil to loosen it up enough to cover the seed when you drag it. The seed has to be covered in order to germinate. But if you bury the seed too deep it won't come up at all. (ask me how I know). You already have the rye grass established to hold the soil, but now it's compacted and you need to loosen it up a little.

And if you can, plant the bermuda right before several days of off and on light rain.
