BCS 740
Hi!

I have a BCS 740 and a Berta TR650 85CM flail mower. I'm very satisified with the combination, but unfortunately a piece of steel wire god tangled up in the mower.
I was able to remove most of it with pliers, etc. but a piece is left in the innermost part towards the housing / bearing (look for the picture).
I hope the bearing is not harmed.
How should I best try to remove the last piece of wire? Loosening the whole axle assembly with the flails might be required, but how can I do that in the easiest possible way.

I think I would try setting it on the end opposite of the piece of wire.

That may shift the rotor down and allow you to pull the wire out.

Using a very small diameter punch or Phillips screw driver will force the wire out of the gap to enable you to remove the wire.

Hi Erling ;)

I have the same 2-wheel tractor and flail mower as you, and I fully agree with you - it’s an impressive combination 💪

A flail mower seems to be very good at finding hidden fence wires, and as I often mow along the edges of various pastures and meadows, I have had the „pleasure“ of finding a few steel wires too

On top of the good advices already given, I would do my very best to get the rest of the wire out with a pair of pliers and a screw driver. I would be very reluctant to loosen anything, as one might do more harm than good, and end up even worse than you are already

I wouldn’t expect anything to have be harmed, as the Berta is a very heavy-duty and well-build flail mower, that will take quite some punishment 💪

When mowing in heavy brush and the like, you often don’t know what lies in front of you, and sometimes it might be a tree stump, a big stone or a piece of rock, or a steel fence post or a piece of wire. I have had it all, but Berta is a tough girl, and she can handle it without a scratch :ROFLMAO:

I hope that you get your problem solved - or perhaps you already have?

Best regards

Jens
