I recently bought an older model Bervac 48" snow blower I use on the 3 point hitch on my 1980 B7100. It works great at 800RPM (3 blade fan vs 4 blade), but when servicing gear box I noticed the auger shafts have no grease fittings & the auger shafts are rusted solid to the inner shafts from the gear box. I drilled, tapped & installed grease fittings but none of them will take grease. Thought about removing shear bolts (already drilled out old ones & installed new greased ones) & backing into a hard snow bank to see if they will break free. Only other option seems to be a pile of heat applied & hope it doesn't cook the seals in the gear box. Anybody had this problem?

I'd try spraying penetrating oil in the shear bolt holes and grease fitting holes and let it soak. Instead of backing into a snow bank and using engine power to break it free, I'd try a more controlled, manual break free first. Take the blower off, take the shear bolts out. Try to hold the auger(s) stationary with a block of wood between it and the ground or a "C" clamp. Then put a pipe wrench on the drive shaft hub at the gear box and try to break it free.

Tried penetrating oil in shear bolt holes & grease fitting holes (4 on each shaft), no luck. Tried pipe wrench with PTO engaged, tractor in gear, Lo range, no luck.
