If you run a quick hitch you won't gave to cut the pto shaft. I run the harbor freight version, $100 shipped with the 20% coupon. It's incredibly useful in the garden as I frequently switch between the tiller, bedder, middle buster, box blade and carry all. With exception of the pto shaft hook up most of these changes can be made from the seat of the tractor.
