Worst? - Parents who think they should not have to follow the rules because "They are taxpayers" and will have my job if I fail to grant them what they wish.

Best - I retire on Thursday....

Best- I'm a contractor and operate my tractor and other equipment most of the time. And I love to work outside. Sure would like A/C for these Texas summers though!

Worst - Competing against lowballers that are happy just making wages and don't have insurance.

Im a self employed electrical contractor and the best part about my job is i get to pick when and where i work...and for how long i work every day

the worst part of my job is if theres no work.... i dont get to pick when and where i get to work and for how long i work every day.

But i actually love my work. Ive been able to be self employed for almost 20 years of the 30 yrs ive been actually working (not counting work during college)

I think the worst thing is that it is basically a dog eat dog world. Everything is cut-throat competition, doing more with less of everything, etc., etc.

Work was always work but it just seems like it is survival of the fitest now-a-days.

Pay wise, when you look over a job advertisement and see what employers want and what they want to pay, it sure does not ad up.

Anyway, my problem is that my employer keeps expecting me to train people that just don't have what it takes to do the job. These people are already on the job in one capacity or another and their is nothing wrong with wanting to advance to a better job within a company. But, they have not paid their dues beyond say high school and then must have missed a class or two.

Two-three weeks in and when when I stop talking and get the bambi in the head light look, I know I am in trouble. Then, later on when these "people" are asked to do something they say I had not shown them that.

Uh boss, I guess it never occurred to them to read over the "cookbook" I wrote about the job. It's all in there if they need a refresher.

The best part: my 8th grade students.

The worst part: my 8th grade students.

Actually, I love my job, but like most, it has it's moments. I'm not all that fond of a 10 month salary, but I do love that 2 month summer vacation!

I'm a toolmaker, designing and building plastic injection molds. I enjoy the work, the precision, and the creativity. What I don't like is standing all day, and getting paid less than I was 15 years ago for a very demanding skill set.

Here's an idea: Every pay period put 83.33% of your pay into your regular checking account & 16.67% into a secondary checking account. For month 11 pay yourself 1/2 of the amount in the secondary account; For month 12 pay yourself the other 1/2.

Example: Annual take-home pay $36,000. A 10-month salaried employee gets $3,600/ month. Put $3,000 of it in your regular checking account & $600 in a secondary account. After 10 months, your secondary account will have $6,000 in it. Pay yourself $3,000 in month 11 & month 12.

If (when?) interest rates ever come up again, your pay in months 11 & 12 will actually be higher than the rest of the year since that money sat there earning interest for anywhere from 1 to 10 months.

The best part is that I am retired and although I stay busy and seem to do the same amount of work when i was employed, I get to decide what to do and when. The worst part is that I don't receive a paycheck.
