Is a harley rake hard to use, I mean does it take time to learn to use it?. I found a used one, well demo model at a local tractor dealer for $5,700. Also our tractor has a top link Hydraulic link but not a side one. Does this require a side link also........? I seen another post that said using a Harley rakes takes lots and lots of practice.
I have not totally ruled out a harley rake, I would much rather have onebut if I can't find one a little cheaper , I may go with the pulverized and york rake. I am also going to do finish grading on the side so I may be able to justify the Harley Rake.

Kch,
in my opinion,it is not very hard to use at all,it is like every other attachment, you just need to figure out what works best with it,as far as as depth and speed, otherwise with a few hours of use you'll pick it right up,basically what I'm saying is you don't need to be a rocket scientist to operate one,but as with everything, the more (seat time) you put into it,the more you get out of it /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gifAs far as the hydraulic links,I have neither, and just keep everything level on the three point hitch, but it is not a bad thing to have.A friend of mine has one set up with a hydraulic top and side link and he can do alot of contouring with it.Keep looking for one in your price range, don't give up,they're out there,it'll be one of the best investment you've ever made!

Tags, I let a guy use the Pro 8 I have. He had a Kubota L3010. While the loader would not lift it out of my truck due first to lift height limitations and probably weight constraints, once on the rear end of the 3010, it worked beautiful. 4wd is a must for hills. Power just is not an issue.

The Pro 8 fits in the back of my truck with about 1/100th of an inch to spare. Tailgate stays doen. Rat...

Rat,
"Tailgate stays doen."
Funny,it seems I can never get my tailgate to stay "doen" on my truck,is that a special feature on yours? /w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif/w3tcompact/icons/laugh.gif

Hmmm, how did I manage to type doen, wow, I must be getting lazy. I could go back and edit my post but then your post wouldn't make sense so I'll just leave it.

"Tailgate stays doen."

Should read "Tailagate stays down"

Buddy,I think you're startin' to slip, now instead of it being a tailgate,it is apparently a tailagate...Rat, maybe you should talk to somebody.../w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif

I take care of 4 ball diamonds. These guys are touching on things that may do the trick for you. You will have to try them to see if they do work for your application. One thing I can offer you though that hasnt been mentioned, doens thave anything to do with "attachments" but when, later in the season, the fields start to dry out, get dusty, and be loose "deep" especially around trhe bases, if you dont have any water nearby, like I dont, get in touch with your local fire dept, and ask them if they would bring their pumper and the fire unit that fights grass fires out to the fields and spry them down for you. Their tanks are usually 400 gals or so, and they will go through that VERY quickly! I think last season, in the final championship game, after i worked the field, i had them spray it down and it use close to 1600 gals.

Lot of folks have the fancy tools, but on many occasions I've used old box springs, wooden pallets and sections of chain link fence to drag ball fields. When they are all you got to work with they are wonderful tools.
Love the water truck/tank! Boy the dust can be awful in the summer.

AND THE WINNER IS????? THE TR3 RAKE!!! I USED THE TR3 RAKE ON THE DIAMONDS AND THE FLOATING DRAG BAR LEVELED, SMOOTHED AND REMOVED ALL THE GRASS THAT APPEARED OVER THE WINTER ON THE INFIELDS.....................iT LEFT A GROOMER PLAYING CONDITION FINISH. THE DRAG BAR DID HAVE THE TEETH ATTACHMENT AND i ALSO PULLED A DRAG MAT BEHIND THE TR3.
WHAT WAS EVEN BETTER IS THAT IT WAS ALSO GREAT ON THE GRAVEL DRIVE AND FOR SPREADING DIRT AND GRAVEL ON THE GROUNDS.

WHEN USING THE HARLEY RAKE I WAS SUPRISED WITH HOW MANY DIRT CLODS WERE STILL LEFT AND THE HARLEY COULD NOT SPREAD PILES OF GRAVEL OR DIRT. ALSO YOU CAN DRAG ALL THE TRASH TO ONE SPOT WITH THE TR3 AND THE HARLEY RAKE JUST KICKS IT OFF TO THE SIDE IN ROWS THAT HAVE TO BE PICKED UP.
