Best bang for the buck 2320 vs. 2520

These two machines are more similar than they are different. I would try them both out. It could be the added benefits of the 2520 would not make any difference to you, and you could have a couple of implements for the price difference. Or it might make all the difference in the world. Try before you buy is my advise.

I could have gotten either machine. I just didn't need the 2520 and I'll bet most people could easily run with the 2305.

I have 16 acres to manage and the 2320 is a tough little beast and so is the '05. I went with the 2320 over the 2305 because I wanted the back hoe and the full Cat 1 hitch.

Remember something, someday you'll need to replace tires and the bigger the tire the higher the cost. Also the 2320 and 2305 get better fuel economy than the 2520.

For my money bigger isn't always better. Decide your needs realistically and don't buy the biggest you can afford just because you may be able to afford it.

I'll bet you can do everything with the 2320 you can do with the 2520 just some tasks will be a little slower.

I will be mowing about 3 acres of lawn, clearing brush and timber from my pasture. Also I have an old circular drive that I need to remove.
I've owned an X595 and I want something larger that want destroy my lawn and will still fit in my garage.(the folding rops is a must).
I will be buying the 200cx loader and the 62d mower.

Thank you all for the insight and help.

Happy Thanksgiving~!

For mowing, any of them will do fine (2305, 2320, 2520). The 2305 will be the most nimble but it does not come standard with a foldable ROPS. I believe you can get one aftermarket fairly reasonably. You are on the right track with the 62" deck.

The brush and timber work is really the kicker here. The extra clearance on the 2320 and 2520 will make a big difference.

So - it boils down to 2320 vs. 2520. The extra horsepower isn't a "must", but if you're going to run a brush hog you can go a bit bigger with the 2520. Both can have a backhoe (even the 2305 is getting it's own BH but that's a different thread).

If you can swing it I'd go 2520 for the extra HP and faster hydraulics. If it's pushing the envelope the 2320 will certainly do your jobs with ease.

Good luck!

Scott

Looks like the others already have provided all kinds of good info... Scott mentioned the tidbits I would have thrown in. I would simply say look at the machine you think you want... then look at the next step up (bigger). Most never over buy (except me :D/I got carried away a bit & will probably be stepping back down:D). Instead most find out after the purchase that they need/want more machine. All 3 tractors in the 2000 line would be capable machines for what you need. However it sounds like you could use the extras the 2320/2520 offer. I would strongly recommend the 2520... it's monster of a machine in smaller package. For an extra $2k... it's worth it IMO. Good luck and don't forget to post pics when your new baby comes home... :)

I am on the fence between these 2 tractors.
The only difference I have noticed, the 2520 has 2.5 more horsepower.
The hydraulic filter seems to be more protected on the 2520 and it has the auto bleed fuel system.
The weight is the same. Both appear to be identical in size.

The $2000 dollar price difference at my dealer has me leaning towards the 2320.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

I hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Thank you

Terry~!

Terry,

Actually the 2520 is 205 lbs. heavier, not that it's a big deal. Probably a bit heavier engine, different Hyd. pump.... i actually don't know why.
I'm leaning toward the 2320 and more toys with it, I've got time for slower hyd. cycle, at least I hope. Also after tommorow I may have the extra 205lbs. on me and it will be even heh heh :p

Happy Thanksgiving too all!

It will be mid December or the 1st of the year before the tractor stork arrives.

I will post pictures as soon as she arrives. :)

Now lets go cook some turkey.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Took about three weeks for my 2320 to arrive. Some of the attachments came earlier (BH, 47" blower) and some later (mower deck). Of course the FEL came with it.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

Like others have stated, if you can get it, go for the 2520!

I agree with all statements here, all the machines in this class would be fine for you. However if it were "ME", I would say I would have to go with the 2520. I think having the beefier hydraulics alone would be worth it to me. More Hydraulics at a lower engine speed makes a lot of sense to me. Especially steering, near idle speeds....

The other thing is if you go with the 2520, you now have something that most people want in case you ever decide that you want to sell it, because who knows 5 years down the road, you may have no use for this machine at all, or you may be thinking about a larger machine... This way if you ever decide to sell, you have a machine that appeals to the higher number of buyers.

That's just my thinking anyway...
