That's interesting stuff DieselPower, (Mike), I had always read that little additives were in break in oil. Interesting stuff! I guess zinc is a lubricant?
Yep, it is. Think about it. Anytime you rebuild a engine you use a "assembly lubricant", replace a camshaft and you use cam assembly lube. All of these products are super beefed up with additives. The reason is that when a engine is brand new or newly rebuilt it is at it's tightest with the closest tolerances it will ever have and therefore needs the maximum amount of protection otherwise excessive wear can occur rapidly.
Don't just turn it off hot either
let it cool down, (esp if you have a turbo), idle down for a couple minutes and keep circulating oiil (actually this is good any time)
but working hard, then shutting it right off is really hard on a motor, esp a turbo
