Dan, Merry Christmas. The Carryall looks great. Hope it was priced OK. The wood probably cost you more than the CA. Can you shoot a couple more pictures of the wood planks - directly from the back and a better side picture that shows the bottom. I am looking to make a new wood frame for mine as well. First off I am oing to mod mine to fit the Quick Hitch.

Looks great. Happy Holidays.

Nice adjustable park bench you have there.

How much do you think the wood weighs?

It does look nice. Would work nice as a portable work bench too.

Mike,

I built the platforms just like building a deck. I used (4) 2x8 and (1) 2x4 presure treated pieces for the decking and 2x4 braces. I cut the planks to 4ft. I used Gorilla glue and the 2x4 brace to hold them together. The braces are fastened to the planks with Gorilla glue and coated deck screws. I built the bottom and back in the same way, except the back doesn't have the center brace. I then placed the wood deck assemblies on the carry all, drilled the 12 1/2in holes and attached them with 1/2x2-1/2in carriage bolts, lock washers and nuts. I ran a piece of 2x6 along each side of the bottom platform to create a lip. I plan to add some eye-hooks for tiedowns and maybe stake pockets for future addition of sides.

I am not sure what it weighs. I know the lumber was pretty heavy when I built it, do to it being still wet. It should lighten up when dried out. I placed the bare carryall in the pickup by hand, but needed the loader to take the completed carry all off the truck!

I think I will get a lot of use of of this attachment. It will save the back when putting heavy things in and out of the back of the pickup.

The current price of the carryalls at TSC is $112.80.
The lumber and hardware ran me another $80.00

I think it was a good investment.

Attached are a few pics of my King Kutter CA. The wood deck is about the same as already discussed (bolts, pressure treated lumber, gorilla glue, etc.). I do have just a few comments. I allowed spacing between the boards to allow debris to fall out. I have since added top-hat brackets to hold two up-right 2x4s on the back to help contain stuff like branches and the like. A word of caution to all those about to buy a CA: unless you want to drill alot of holes in the 1/4" angles that the carrier is made from, be sure that the unit you are looking at has them pre-drilled! I've noticed that some less expensive models do not have these holes. The extra $ is worth the trade in labor.

One last comment - A CA is one of the most used attachments I have. whether carrying debris, branches, bricks, bags of whatever, or even kids, it is a great investment for the $!

I use my C.A. as a base for my 15 gal sprayer. Rather than buy the tow behind style with its own frame and wheels, I got the type designed to strap onto the back of an ATV. I place a short 2" x 12" board across the C.A., put the tank on that, and bungee it down. Spray pump is elec, powered from the battery. I got the sprayer on sale at Northern for $89 which saved a good deal of $ over the wheeled kind. This also saves space as the tank alone is easily lifted to a storage spot atop a cabinet or up in the garage trusses.

Most of my implements have dollies, but for the C.A. I bolted four 2" casters to the bottom. It rolls around easily. I store it with the forks rolled beneath the rough cutter, which is sitting on its own dolly.
