Gotta admit. I've only ventured "out" a couple or three times with them on. Do a lot of sitting in the pickup waiting for my son to finish shopping. Should have purchased the shirt to complete the outfit.

YOU TOO can have a pair like these. Just go to a highway safety clothing web site.

Blue Mountain from TSC ~$15. Heavy denim, quality pockets and stitching like Rustlers. Old Mill lined 5-pocket from Menards. <$20.
+1 on the Blue Mountain.
I think that pocket is also used for 'male protection' devices.
Hate to say it, but I'm kind of past the point where I need that anymore.

Atwoods has Ranch Wear brand jeans for about $9.99 a pair. They can run a little large because they are roomy. I won't say they are as good as Carharts or Wranglers or even Lees. But they are decent for 75% less of the price of most of those.

I have switched to carpenter pants from jeans. Atwood's had some Dickies duck carpenter pants on sale for $19 and I bought a pair. The went back and bought another pair. I like the duck fabric better than cotton denim and the extra pockets on the right side are handy. My knife, small flashlight and a pair of wire cutters or Stihl pruners usually stay on those pockets. I don't use the hammer loop very often on the left side and I wish they would replace the loop with another set of pockets like they have on the right side. The loop tends to catch on things sometimes.

Northern Tool has dropped the left hammer loop and added pockets on their Gravel Gear brand work pants. I picked up a couple pair and like them. They have worked some stretch material into the fabric on some of the pants. It's OK but I'm old school and like the regular cotton duck best. It seems to wear better and doesn't pick up dirt and stains hardly at all.

I will have to try the Carhartts, they seem to get some good reviews.

Changing pants before going to work is easy... I need to remember to change before transitioning from "going to town" to "working around my property." If I get a year from a pair of jeans or most other articles of clothing I'm happy. I don't know how people can have something last for decades.

edit: a quick search shows them even more pricy than Levis. I may have to go back to Wranglers, although they don't seem to last as long. (I write the purchase date on the inside pocket.)
I bought my carhartts a few years ago when suerra trading post was still a good deal (they were supposedly cosmetic seconds - no effect on fit, and I could never find the fault and trust me they're stained way beyond thirds or fourths now) for like $30.

There's no comparison between their fabric and jeans denim - I've worn one pair of pants and some overalls for the last few years doing dirty hard work and there's no sign of them wearing out; two pairs of Levis or more would be history by now under the same treatment.

Sportsman Guide sells their versions...definitely not a designer jean, but serviceable. These do tend to be very thin material though.

How about Old Mill’s? Not sure where I got them but they last a long time.

Some are lined and warm.

MoKelly

I bought a pair of Old Mills jeans at Menards.

Not blue jeans, but Costco has a line of insulated work pants called ”Weatherproof Vintage” I swear by them. 36 long x 34 waist are perfect for over my Bates steel toe boots. They are usually under $20/pair and you’ll get 1-2 years out of them before you wear them out.
Try them, you will really like them in the woods in cold weather. I have made a sort of “uniform” out of them and my company shirts for my employee, too.
I keep a few in-worked-in pairs for my kids games on cold bleachers and they are WARM. They have nice colors, tan, dark green.
