For my use I looked at several and ended up with a Kioti CK20, for me it is a great size, built a landing strip, lots of landscaping, run a 60 inch pull mower and a 60 inch Schulte snow blower, it is working great and just purchased a backhoe, the thing that guided me this way was the cost of used machines, the depreciation was less than other brands and yes, the FEL issue does effect mine and no have no fix yet, I figure should it crack I will just fix it as the bolt on method does not appeal to me, touch wood, I have used the FEL lots and no issues as yet. I have 40 acres in prarie grass around our house.

Been looking for a while and was gonna go with a Yanmar, but with what there bringing i might just get a new tractor. I've got about 2 acres of yard to mow and another 2 acres of field beside my house, I want 4x4 and to get a woods mower and possibly a FEL. Any suggestions would be great on the best bang for the buck. This is just for my use around my house and my dads so i dont need anything but the basics. Any good deals being offered??? Any good dealers in NC ? or close for the right deal!!!!!

I bought a new 21-hp (engine, 17-hp pto) Kubota B7510HST with the LA302 FEL (4-ft wide bucket) in June 05 for $12600 plus tax (10% down, 0% for 36 months). Use it around my 10-acre spread. Have a 4-ft King Kutter rotary mower (aka brush hog) that I got at TSC ($600) to mow the weeds. You can get a mid-mount mower (MMM) for the 7510 for mowing the lawn, but it's several thousand bucks. Also, you need turf tires if you want to do landscape mowing with your tractor. My 7510 has ag tires so I have a Huskee riding mower (42" cut) to mow my 1/2 acre of grass.

Like you I had my had my eye on a Yanmar 1700 with a Koyker loader before I bought the 7510 instead. The 1700/FEL would have cost around $7000, which I thought was pricy for a 20+ year old tractor with a 17-hp pto.

Why isn't the Kubota fender cracking issue brought up? Or other mfr's defects, for that matter. I'm not really picking on Kubota. It's just unfair to the original poster to create such bias without talking about all issues for a mfrs. Let the poster make up his own mind on these things, please.

A number of good machines have been suggested to the poster. The good thing is there are many good ones to choose from. Different machines are better suited for different tasks. So, use your specific tasks to help you in narrowing your selection. Prices vary by region. But, there are "bargains" to found in most brands too, if you look long enough. I suggest looking at both used and new. Often there is a new model you favor that will show up on a good used deal. I like all of these manufacturers: JD, Kubota, NH, Case, Agco, MF, Kioti, Mahindra, TYM, and Branson. I wouldn't hesitate to buy any these mfr's products if the price and dealer are "right".

The choice of so-called "first tier" manufacturers does have less inherent risk concerning long term support and parts availability. Not always, but in many cases, the "second tier" companies offer better pricing (and some longer warranties). Obviously, companies with lower sales volumes and smaller dealer networks contain more long-term risks. At the extreme, the chinese tractors probably contain the most risk in this regard. Thus, there are some calculated chances taken by every buyer.

Dealer quality will vary from location to location and mfr. to mfr. It is an important factor to consider carefully. It's not always so important to some users, while to others, it's critical. If it is important to you, it should make your choice much easier.

Consider whether you plan to keep it a very long time, or sell it sooner rather than later. For the latter, short term resale value may be important to you as well.

Man thanks for all the replies, I guess my priorities in order are price first and the location of dealer. I wouldn't mind one up to 100 miles away if they had a good deal and service. When i bought my little JD GT275 i didn't figure there was much difference in prices from dealer to dealer, boy was i wrong. I just started callng the closets first and they got cheaper as i went. I saved over a $ 1,000 bucks calling around. As far as dealer service i hope with a new tractor not to have to see him much unless i need more toys to hook to it. I do want a reputable company though. I just want a nice dependable 4x4 20-30 hp tractor that will run a woods mower and operate a FEL for small jobs around my house. I might eventually want a bush Hog also. Just looking yesterday i really liked the looks of the Kubota B7610(not sure on price of these) . Im just statrting out so help me spend the money wisely cause i need one to get started on my yard. Thanks Alan

In my area, Massey Ferguson is the cheapest of the 'big 3'.. thus more hp per dollar.

also.. if you are looking at economy.. i sugest you look at other than a woods mower.. etc.

I see where the other poster was considering yanmer.. but not chinese... you do realize that yanmar is jap don't you? Big difference in jap design and metalurgy vs chinese.

I saw ads for chinese tractors and thought Wow, I can get a brand new tractor for that! I then went and looked at them. They were all very crude, castings rough, sheet metal and paint rough. Trans shifting felt awful.
I then saw some Bransons at the same dealer. Very well made! 4X4, Cummins Diesel, 12 speed with shuttle shift, great sheet metal and paint, castings are exellent, great warranty, fuel tank mounted low, you sit up and don't straddle the trans, just to point out a few things. I googled Branson and did a lot of research.
I bought a Branson 3510 two years ago and I still love it! I've added a FEL and a backhoe and having so much fun it should be illeagal! I ordered it with the R-4 industrial tires, I use it with a 5' finish mower and if I don't turn real sharp it dosen't hurt the grass. I let a friend drive it and he said it drives so easy, just like a car.
I broke one of the plastic panels in front of the dash and had a new one UPS in 2 business days from the warehouse in Ga.
Check the Branson forum, very little complaints.

"One Korean tractor has cracking FELS and a company that is still dragging it's feet more than a year later."

Some folks sure are sensitive, a NAME WASN'T MENTIONED!

The cracked fenders weren't mentioned either. Nor were many other defects on many other tractors. Leaving out the manufacturer names, being selective and omitting many - how are these helpful to anyone?

I'm not sure what you're getting at here....

OK, some Kubota's may have had an issue with fenders cracking...other tractors may have other issues.
I've never read (on TBN) of the Kubota cracking fenders, but can't say I frequent the Kubota forums every time I log on to TBN.

The gentleman asked for recommendations for a couple, three acre property and most respondents offered advice (and some brands) which are their opinions....so, what are you complaining about?
