Like the others said, that particular gift can't be topped.

Since both my kids are in different parts of the country, I got a couple of phone calls. I told them a long time ago I didn't want them spending their money on me. I never would have believed when I was a kid that there'd be a day when a phone call would make me happier than a gift! But it happens all of the time now. /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif

Ditto on that one!! I remember when my twins were just tiny 2-1/2lbs and the other 3-1/2lbs birth weight delivered 11 or 13 weeks early /forums/images/graemlins/crazy.gif Thats when your faith really kicks in!! WE know we were blessed...

One of my best fathers day gifts now that I've had time to reflect on it a little, is one my dad (gone since 1980 @ only 57 years) gave to me : A great childhood! Mom & dad weren't rich by any means, had their share of disagreements, but loved each other to the end. My mom, now 79 years old, never once thought about re-marrying or finding someone new. She said when you've found your soulmate, that no one could ever compare to what they had. My dad lived by example, & always cared about doing the right thing & what others would think of his reputation. My dad's gift to me was the legacy to be the best father I can be , and to provide my kids with the best childhood & role model I can possibly be for them...........THANKS DAD.....I miss you..........

When I retired and we started full time RVing, I had told my wife that I hoped our two daughters would move to opposite coasts so we just travel back and forth, but it didn't happen. /forums/images/graemlins/laugh.gif So since they both live right here close, they took us to my favorite seafood restaurant after church, and then to a new gourmet ice cream place in the evening. Probably just what I didn't need; I ate too much, but enjoyed every bite. /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

My two boys came up for dinner (on me) and spent the afternoon with the "old folks". I would love for it to happen a lot more than it does. Jeff is 33 and Ian is 27. Our daughter Rhonda is down in Houston with all of you Texas folks. She is 36 and gave me my first grandson on April 13th, I guess that is as good of gift as I could have got. I too don't want the kids spending their hard earned money on me, getting to see them is worth more than anything they could buy me at this point in my life.

I had a great gift too. I spent the day painting a roof. I finished up as the wife was running out with two of the three kids. She came back and said someone up the street wanted to meet me. We recently moved. Well I needed to change clothes, more paint on me than I cared for.

We drove up to the local ultra-lite park. There I met a great gentleman who offered up a free ride. I told him I'd take a raincheck. Figured, I used up my luck that day being on the roof. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Anyway, he offered up the kids a ride. My eldest went first. She has always been terrified of heights.

She conquered that fear that day. What a great sight and what a great feeling.

The little one went next. Unreal.

How great it is to see your kids overcoming stuff!

I have a feeling we will make many friends at the air-park.
