I'm very sorry for your loss. I've had to cry more times than I care to admit at the loss of one of my fur children. The last one made me swear that I'd never do it again. A very good friend tried to give me one of his dogs. I refused to take her and explained why. He said that I should think about my selfishness at refusing to allow another dog to be my dog. I just couldn't take the heart break again and told him so.
Along comes my son with his new puppy. A year and a half later he moves to town and can't have a dog where he lives. Now my wife has a new fur baby. I'm dragging my feet but my heart is pulling me closer and closer. I'm afraid you are one of us. You may say no but when the time is right you'll lose the battle of the heart and another dog will be lucky enough to return your love. Your sorrow is a sign of your tremendous humanity. God Bless you. Soldier on.
