Reading these posts on this thread reminds me of part of my post from the automatic gate thread..."After having an automatic gate...which keeps out the uninvited rif-raf, helps keep the place secure, and the dogs happy inside, I could not live without one. It has made a world of difference. A closed gate makes a statement to the outside world. And...if someone knowingly goes past the gate uninvited, past the dogs, then they are probably up to no good and can visit the end of my gun...Ain't America Great!!"
At least for my wife and I, security has always been something built into our psyche. Just like having a fire extinguisher always ready, security is something that should be built into your environment. I think most of us on TBN are of that mindset...that of being self reliant. That's why we live the way we do, and why we all relate to each other so well. It's odd that most people that live in the suburbs in developments don't really think this way, even though they probably have higher odds of being mugged or robbed. The way your house looks, your activity schedule, and how you present yourself while outside all add up to how a potential criminal will react. And that goes for anywhere...being in a parking lot...driving home from work, or shopping. Having a gun, (ready), dogs, security cameras, etc. are all different links in the chain of self defense and reliance. They all connect together to make up the sum total. It's just a way of life... You can't count on 911 out here.
