I drink, but do my best not to get sauced. From what I know of the good book, it doesn't mention not consuming, but it does talk a lot about drunks and drunkeness. The good man himself and all his disciples drank wine. Don't know if they had hard liquor back then, but they did have vino and I believe the first miracle was turning a bunch of urns of water into said vino. It was a wedding, party or something. Anyhow, a lot of the hard core religious sects will say it wasn't fermented. Well, they would have called it "juice" otherwise and not wine! So that argument doesn't hold water with me. I don't feel drinking will send you to the dark side unless it consumes you after you consume it! My .02.
I think an AR15 in a pistol type caliber is a great weapon for inside the home. On Black Friday, I picked up a Colt AR15, 9mm, 32 round capacity. I fired it recently, had some really crummy ammo that was thrown in during the purchase and also shot some CCI Blazer aluminum cased rounds that were given to me by a friend. Both were very dirty and I had a lot of misfires, partial ejects and once I had an attempted stovepipe. Really made the sight-in process terrible. But, it was free and got me on the steel. Since I didn't have anything that fired 9mm up until the AR, I didn't have any quality 9mm ammo. I've since remedied that with a large online purchase.
Here's a video of me shooting the Colt 9mm. My narration sucks and you'll have to fogive my expletives (I'm working on that). This video is after I had already sighted it in for 100 yards. I think the groups would have been better if not for the inconsistent ammo and rapid firing didn't help much either. I also wanted to note that in the video I incorrectly stated "100 meters". It should have been yards. At the end, I did a shoot at 50 yards as well. If you've got 6 minutes to kill...

Curious if you let your dogs patrol, or go out first?

Now that we're into catholic bashing, isn't it time to close this thread?

I was having a chat with my solicitor once about a guy that shot another dead with a bolt action rifle . The guy is still doing time . The solicitor said he could have got him off if he had killed him with the first shot , but he had pulled the bolt back and loaded another round and shot him again . The act of reloading made it pre meditated murder , ie. he had paused and thought about what he was doing . I think with a double barrel shotgun , you could get away with jerking the trigger again but too manualy load another shot brings it into another scenerio here in OZ .
I'm an average guy.. 5'6" 155#.. I've got no problem whatsoever with a 12ga long gun.. I shoot trap and skeet and don't have any problem staying on target for 2nd shot if needed. A small tactical pump will be a bit more.. but I have one.. a class 3 short barrelled shotgun at that.. and as said.. I can keep it on a silouette for all 3 shots in rapid succession at 'defensive' distances. A tactical regular length shotgun would be even easier to control.
If you know there's going to be a fight.. prudence would say to avoid the situation. Since you can't carry a long-arm concealed.. that leaves you with a pistol... for unforseen circumstances.

Hmmm. I disagree with the less overpenetration argument. If you are using frangible ammunition, which is readily available online (AMMOMAN.COM d/b/a Discount Distributors) I may agree, but not with regular .223 or military type 5.56 ammo. See The Box O' Truth - Ammo Penetration Testing and you'll know what I'm talking about.
Most police departments and sheriff's offices are issuing M4's or AR15 A2 style carbines for their officer's patrol cars these days, a lot of it has to do with them being potentially outgunned in a lot of situations. I don't think it has much to do with "less overpenetration". My opinion only.
I recently shot a piece of 1/2" A-20 piece of steel (tool caliber steel) with a rockwell hardness of around 23. I used an AR15 from 100 yards and tested 3 different rounds.
1. Walmart bought, Federal .223, 50gr, Jacketed Hollow Point. - Went about 1/8" into the steel from 100 yards.
2. Military surplus, Federal XM193, 55gr, FMJ - Went about 1/4" (or half way) into the steel from 100 yards.
3. Military surplus, Federal M855, 62gr, FMJ with tungsten penetrators - The copper/lead jacket went a little over 1/4" into the 1/2" steel, but the penetrator went through it.

Could be argued that sin, even in moderation, is still sin.
As long as your idea of being a responsible pet owner isn't leaving it chained to a dog house 24/7, or you don't care whose property it wonders onto.
Got to know more of the story.. as it is.. it's vauge.
