Any opinions? I'm just curious as to what your thoughts are.

As with chainsaws, etc., everyone has a preference. I'm curious as to what you use, or better yet, if you don't care for the one you own now, what you'd go get if you were in the market for a new one.
:D Thanks :D

I say Coleman - And freeze your own ice in used plastic icecream containers - Last a lot longer than cubes

I just finished a five day canoe trip with the Boy Scouts. We used a variety but had some Coleman 5 day coolers for later in the week. Sure enough, they still had plenty of ice on day 5. Biggest thing is to keep them closed, we stretch wrapped the later coolers just to be sure.

I thought it was all marketing hype on those silver 5 day coolers, but bought one when I needed an extra for the Youth nationals.

They were a couple dollars more then the "regular" models, but held the ice tremendously longer.

The next year, we replaced all the coolers with the Silver long lasting / 5 day whatever ones and made up for the cost of the new coolers in the amount of ice we used.

I've got one of those big white ones that sams and wal-mart have carried for years. It keeps ice on a three day camp out with the scouts during 100 degreee temps. It's kept ice for 6 days at summer camp when we use it to supply small personal coolers for the boys. We use it every week in our van to bring our groceries home as we live 20 miles from the store and might make several stops before we get home. It think they are priced a little lower now than when I bought it. 30 to 40 dollars.

The majority of the time wherever we go there is electricity available so we take one of two 12 volt coolers that we have. You can use a 12 volt transformer instead of battery power if you wish. Plus the coolers will heat or cool your choice.

There is no compressor so the current draw is minimal and there is no ice or water to get in your food or refreshments.

When we're not using one or the other electric we turn to a simple WalMart Styrofoam cooler with ice.
