Hi folks,

Thanks for all the replies! Hope you don't mind if I respond to several of them in one post... Yes, this was starting to sound like a major league ballpark! /w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif We are still deciding if we want to level the field or not. We had already decided though, that if we were going to level the field, we would bring in someone with a dozer to do that, and of course we would grade it to drain properly. The field has a slight (maybe 4 ft or so from the edge) crown in the middle, but I just figured that we'd put home plate there, and maybe the kids would have a slight advantage hitting downhill. /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif I do want it to be smooth, though, and I really hoped to use the 3010 for that with maybe a harrow and a pulverizer. For the primary discing, I was definitely planning to use the neighbors with their huge John Deeres. Do you folks think that the 3010 could disc after applying fertilizer and/or manure? What is the biggest size disc that I could pull with this tractor? I realize that this could take a while, but right now we have more time than money... Besides, my Mom reminded me that my Grandad used to turn this same field with a mule. /w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif

Disking to mix the manure and fert. should work great. I would probably mix the manure first, then spred the fertilizer, then lightly disk it in.

My L3410 has a 3pt max lift of 2200lbs. I would suppose that you could easily use a disk of 1200lbs+. Just remember to lift if for turns.

Good luck and I can't wait to see the pics.

After the soil is tilled by the neighbor, you could do a lot of smoothing with a chain harrow, using your little JD.

Gee, Mike... I wish I'd thought of that clever reference.

Oh, wait... I did! /w3tcompact/icons/wink.gif/w3tcompact/icons/smile.gif/w3tcompact/icons/grin.gif
