Depends on the material and how big a tractor he uses.. 4 cubic yards of loam weighs about 12,000 lbs. Sand is less than that by a little over a thousand lbs as moisture content is mitigated. Also this weight is being dragged and not lifted so at any given time, material is lost and gathered which makes the weight fluctuate.I was thinking the same thing.
The lightest material being loose top soil but 4 yds of that is still approaching 9000lbs but an 8000lb tractor should be able to manage that.
Snow on the other hand approaches around 7000lbs. Dry clay is about 3000 lbs less than loam for 4 yds give or take.
The gathering blade on a Cat D 11 is purported to carry over 50 yds of material at any given time.
Now that's a lotta weight.
