Best MIG for a $1000

Shield Arc - I'm not too familiar with aluminium MIG welding so I have a couple questions on the welds shown in your photo. Could you have used a higher voltage setting without burn through? Also did you push the wire as opposed to dragging it?

Thank you.
John
It's been a long time since I ran that weld. But I remember it as right on the edge of burning through as it was. Higher voltage will give you a wetter / more flowing puddle. Sometimes when doing this I'll run a little less voltage, and more wire speed. To give me a dryer, more controllable puddle.

I've always been told to push aluminum Mig. You want the gas coverage out in front of the weld.
