Best place for purchasing wheel motors?

Hummm. I do not know JJ. I have always just read of the specs, 3100PSI at 18GPM... Never knew that there was a difference

And to this JJ, What would your thoughts be on an electrically controlled diverter valve for forward and reverse? Is this possible or would I end up damaging a lot of equipment (either the motor or the pump?)

I was thinking of wiring up a diverter on a spare switch on my dash, that way I could flip a switch to go in reverse...

Thoughts?

Carl,

You could replace the current valve with a 12 v solenoid motor valve that would let you reverse the hyd motor, but I would add a double relief valve across the hyd motor for protection.

What is a motor solenoid valve? Right now my PTO circuit is run by a solenoid valve, but it is clearly on and off, no feathering...

I was thinking of adding an outboard (by the PTO connections some sort of solenoid valve arraingment that I could use my Seat Switch to operate a reverse feature on the PTO... I have so little room in my motor area for more hoses and valves, but maybe I am seeing this whole thing wrong...

Carl,

Something else I thought of, an open center valve that detents on forward and reverse. Here is how that would work. The new valve would detent in the forward position, and the hyd motor would run normal, when you activated the PTO switch. With the PTO switch off, put the detent valve in the reverse mode, and activate the PTO valve. The hyd motor now runs in reverse.

What is a motor solenoid valve?

A hydraulic motor cannot be just shut off. It has to be allowed to spin down, like the motor on your brush hog or mower. If you just shut off the flow to it it would slam very hard. That's why you need a motor spool valve on hydraulic motors. Your electric PTO switch on your Power Trac operates a motor spool valve with an electric solenoid VS a manual shutoff lever.

Carl,

This valve would work quite well for reversing the hydraulic motor. The hose from your PTO switch unit, would go to the input of the 12 v solenoid. You could mount it on the front side of the PT.

So what does a Motor Spool mean exaclty? That it is feathering? Even if I hit it with 12 volts (not ramped voltage0?

I assume that this spool would work well in a PTO circuit like mine? I see how it moves the fluid from one side of the circuit to the other (Does it rest in Nuetral or in one direction, then redirects to the other?) but what happens with the return line. I assume it is routed through this device as well as beyond it the return line varies?

Carl,

In neutral, the fluid just recirculates until the motor stops. When the motor is running, the return fluid is coming back to the PTO valve in the normal manner. The reversing is done inside the motor spool valve. It just flips the in and out ports. There should be a relief valve on the PTO valve.

On my PTO valve, I have variable speed control, and if I want to reverse the hyd motor direction, I just switch the QD's around.
