The geo fabrics won't do much to control erosion because they go under the material and not over. Because this is a season creek, maybe a Bod Paver will work? I used them for a atv trail that washes out because it's perpendicular to a slope.

To make sure the pavers stay in place, you can not let flowing water get under them. You might want to buy some extra pavers so you can slope the upstream and down stream edges down so the water can't find an edge.
