Best place to buy hydraulic cylinders (steering)

I contacted a dealer to price out parts for a hydraulic piston for the steering on my John deer 4210. They said it had to purchased as an assembly and would cost approx. $650. Do I have any other options ?
Any info would be a great help. Thanks

Try taking it to a local hydraulic shop to get yours repaired. You will save a bundle.

Try a tractor salvage yard. Their prices are usually less than a third of new, and many offer rebuilt assemblies for about half the cost of the dealer. Here is the website for one, but there are many: http://www.farmlandtractor.com

The piston broke in half (cast). The cylinder and seals should be fine.

Go to a good machinist. I just had one made for my JD 4400 made and it will be able to be taken apart and rebuilt in the future if need be.Mine cost me $550 at the machinist.
It really disgusts me John Deere will only sell the cylinder as a whole and cannot be rebuilt. I like my John Deere and the John Deere parts service but they have there draw backs as well.

Go to a hydraulic repair shop. A new piston can be replaced for a fraction of the cost you were quoted for a new assembly. My friend owns his own hydraulic repair shop and does this type of thing all the time.
