Best Product to Oil A Snowblower Chain??

I have a 3 pt, 54 inch Puma snowblower, reading the manual it says to lubricate the chain every 8 hours. I sprayed on white litho grease on the chain. Just wondering if this is the best product or is good old 10-40W just as good? What product should I use??

I would get a can of Motorcycle chain lube.... when you spray it on its liquid, it gets between and in the chain, then turns thick after 10 secs, good stuff.

As your manual states, chainsaw oil is the best. Chainsaw oil is designed with special additives that stick to metallic surfaces, thus assuring better lubrication properties.

I have personally experienced that chainsaw chains will last longer using chainsaw lubricant rather that motor oil. Hope this helps!!!

I like to use chain lube on all my link chains. It just sprays on and stays put really well. I buy mine at my Massey dealer. One more thing, it works really well on the seat rollers. It makes the rollers quite and the seat go up and down real smooth.

I'd say it wouldn't matter a whole heck of a lot what kind of oil you used. Just as long as it's thick enough to stay. Chainsaw oil would be good although the chain you'd be oiling isn't taking the abuse chainsaw chains take but the oil is cheap enough. If it were me, I'd use motorcycle chain lube. After all, it is made for that perticular purpose. The most important thing is to oil the chain. Just don't use WD-40.
