Rotary Cutter Best rotary cutter manufacture

Yes Brown makes awesome equipment and their cutters are almost overbuilt and near indestructible. I have a fairly new disc harrow and I'm sure will last me until I go in the dirt myself. But they don't offer what I consider a medium light duty unit weighing in around the 750-900lb mark. Even their 400 series is a beast and heavier than most competitors in its category. For example most of the medium duty cutters come with a #4 Driveline but Brown uses a 5. Anyway, just worried its too much for my Ford 3910 tractor especially considering the terrain. The LP RCF2072 and Woods BBX72 have 75hp gearboxes and rated to 65hp tractors while the BH16 has a 65hp box and rated up to 45hp tractors. The LP and BH have 10 gauge decks but the woods is 11 gauge. So all of them are close. Right now I'm leaning toward the Land Pride. So if part availability and customer support are good that maybe the one. Beside's I know it will look better than a BH down the road as their paint is horrible. My 08 squealer started fading and peeling 3 years after purchased. From others reviews it seems the Land Pride products have more durable paint. So it will look goods anyways. LOL

Our John Deere 709 has held up well and taken a beating. The deck needs a bit of repair though after kicking up a decent chunk of iron and slicing a 10" long gash through it like a blazing samurai sword

I bought the Woods 6 foot Brush Bull and I have no complaints. It's solid, heavy duty and cuts very well.

I own mostly woods and befco products.Happy with both.My 5 ft.rotary cutter is a taylorway/pittsburg and has held up well so far.

Can't say which is best only that we have gotten good service out of our latest ones a LP RCR2672 and Woods DS1260 and we have used them pretty hard in really rough brush.

I purchased a Rhino 172 last spring after looking at most of the "medium duty" cutters offered in the brands mentioned above. Very pleased with it's performance so far.

Last question is on blade width. I noticed that most all the medium light cutters (rated for 1.-2" material) have 3" wide blades. However the BH16 uses the 4" wide one like used on most medium cutters. Seems to me this is better due to more weight and flywheel effect going through heavier brush. Thoughts?

Yep. That's the basic philosophy of a brush cutter. A lawn mower cuts material. A brush cutter clubs it to death.

Hard to go wrong with Woods if you are going to keep it a long time. I hate the upfront cost but it pays off over the years. Plus you can get a real parts manual and pick up parts almost anywhere. IMO

I agree they make good stuff but for level of cutter I'm looking at they are a lighter unit than the competition and the heavier unit is very heavy duty. Seems like they have a large gap in their product range. The one I would need is the BBx 72 but it offers thinner decks and side bands than the competition.
