Roll on use Herculiner and spray in use Custom Coat. Amazon has both.

Thanks, I'll check them out.
Have you used either, and if so what results?

I've used the Herculiner. It's easy enough. Just follow the directions and take your time- prep prep prep. It actually has been a pleasant surprise. My buddy did the Custom Coat. Because of the spray it takes more masking etc. The end result has been good.
Both will give the Line X a run for the money but in the end Line X will be hard to beat- I've had that as well.

Have you done it as brush on? And what, other than following the directions would you suggest in the prep area is needed.
What have you used it on? How much coverage will a quart render?
Thanks!

I have used the Herculiner on my Kubota step and floor board. I put on three coats and it works great. Line X wanted $400 and the Herculiner was about $55. I can not complain about the durability.

Yes I did the brush on. It seemed to be about the amount indicated on the can. I ordered it online a while ago but I'd remember if I ran out- which didn't happen.
The extra time masking straight lines etc is what I was referring to. It's so easy to get excited and rush through the masking or setup. Seems I spend about 95% of the time "painting" doing the prep and cleanup.

I used Herculiner on the lower body of an S10 I flipped cuz of gravel chips. It was also in the box when I bought it so that why I went with Herc. The box looked very good still when I had it, my roll-on application went surprisingly well and the current owner last I heard was very pleased. I would recommend.

Thanks guys, posts 14-16, I will look into it later today. I definitely won't likely do Linex for this application. It's too small of an area to coat and a PITA to get it to wherever is now doing the treatment in my 'local' area.
Brush/roller with time spent taping off the bed rails etc seems like the best way to get a decent job. I just want to preserve the steel bed's condition for as long as possible. I will likely also use a stall mat from TSC which fits the bed pretty well, for extra protection from things being dropped in it. When hauling dirt or other similar material I will probably take the stall mat out and just let the liner/coating do its thing.

Yah, I found the same $ problem when I went to find a suitable coating for battery trays for my Polaris Ranger EV. All the spray-in truck liner guys wanted to talk about was how involved ($$$) the setup and cleanout of the equipment was and they were not interested in a small job.

I could find almost no difference between "bed liner" formulations and "undercoating". Same cans, same ingredients, same price. I tried both Rustoleum rubberized undercoating rattle cans from TSC and "Flex-Seal" spray liquid rubber from Lowes (as seen on TV). They both seemed to work well and about the same. Seems to be good coverage and good adhesion with proper prep. It is a little tricky to get a nice even texture, either smooth(ish) or "nubbly", but it's possible to do either depending on wet coat thickness. I'd strongly recommend arranging your work pieces so that you can easily reach all sides and crevices without having to be a contortionist.

I have used RAPTOR bedliner on several projects including a Kawasaki Mule, Weight bracket, Land Plane, rear weight rack, ATV racks, workbench and several other projects. it is great, works excellent and with the prep does not come off. For about $125 bucks you get a kit that should do at least a short bed truck and you get the gun to shoot it with in the kit. A little hard to see in the photos but give you a little idea.

I used T-Rex bedliner spray kit to do my pickup bed and rocker panels.

T-Rex Black Bed Liner, 2K Urethane, SMR-1-K4 Truck Bedliner w/Free Spray Gun | eBay

Its a spray on kit and it has really worked out well. I liked it so well I'm getting set to use it on the underside of my tractor rear fenders.

The kit is free shipping and comes with the spray gun that can be used over and over. You can buy refill kits to do other projects.

If it's important to you, the kit is advertised as the only product that is 50 state compliant for VOC requirements
