Hello All TBN Members! Got a question for you! What type shoes do you wear when you are using a hydrostat tractor? I always wear New Balance Country Walkers, Very Comfortable to work in, but they have traction ribs all the way around the sole of the shoe the stick out about 1/4 inch. When I'm just mowing or moving forward I put my heal off to the right of the Hydro Petal and just use my toe to push down with, but when I want to ues the FEL or back-up I sometimes get my heal hung up inder the hydro petal on the ribs of the shoe. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif and sometime I slip off the petal when it's wet. I think it might be interesting to see what type of footwear the TBN members prefer! /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

My all around work type shoe is a Dexter hiking boot #C-246-2, w/ custom orthotic insert. They're fairly comfortable.

I have no doubt that a good leather work boot would be the "preferred" and safest thing to wear, but the fact is that I nearly always just wore my cheap velcro fastened sneakers because they're cooler and more comfortable.

Depends on what I am doing. Working with dirt ect, my Georgia work boots. Cutting grass usually tennis shoes. The most unsafe thing I have used is sandals while mowing. Probably here about that!

Depends. If I'm mowing or piddling around the yard, it's going to be sneakers or slip-on clogs. When I head to the pasture for heavier work it's most likely to be steel toed work boots.

I've been wearing a pair of 6" high stel toe work boots most of the time. Perhaps it's because I only have 12 hrs on the Case and treat the whole adventure like it could bite me in the *****. All that heavy metal, spinning parts and diesel power make me carefully think about whatever I do. I figgure my feet are so far away from my brain they would be most likley to be in harms way first /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif

When I purchased my new TC-40D, included with the deal was a brand new pair of Nike tennis shoes for working the hydro pedals. Didn't you guys get yours? /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

Oops,

Not at all what I was expecting when I opened the thread. I thought "footware" was going to relate to tires /forums/images/graemlins/shocked.gif

I'll throw out my 2 cents anyway. I wear what's appropriate for when I'm off the tractor. Heavy work, leather boots. Light work, sneakers.

Out of habit from work, I wear steel toed shoes whenever I do anything with my tractor. Same with safety glasses with side shield's.
Do a search through older safety threads. You will find enough near injuries and injuries to make you wear safety equipment whenever you walk near a tractor and it's attachments.

I'm with you MrJoe. I always wear steeltoe boots.
What bothers me is the cut I have in the toe of my right boot. It's pretty deep, and I have no idea how they got there. /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif
