I have to agree with you. After shopping and not taking people's claims for gospel, I bought my Kubota for quite a bit less than the 2nd tier Kioti and for about the same price as JD. It is misleading when you constantly hear that you can buy XXX tractor for "thousands" less than a quality John Deere, New Holland, or Kubota when that is not necessarily the case. There seems to be a distinct double standard in that it is accepted that it is okay to post that the major manufacturers are all "over priced", but it gets people all in an uproar when you post evidence to the contrary. Good luck with your new tractor!

Yes it is misleading when you constantly hear people calling the smaller companies 2nd tier and trying to imply these smaller companies products are somehow inferior in quality..Its like saying companies like Porche, Audi,Ferrari etc... who only make up a small percentage of the automobile industry are somehow inferior to the market leading Chevy, Ford or or Pontiac right ? What a rediculous statement.... Some of these SMALL companies make everything in house and dont outsource all their components.... That means they specialize in their tractors, and usually means dedicated quality... Beware of the spinners.... You want to know about a specific tractor brand, ask someone who owns one... Good luck to all....

You are joking right? You do know that Porche and Audi are owned by VW and that Ferrari is owned by Fiat (which makes New Holland tractors). These are companies that produce a huge chunk of the world output of cars.

I'm just say'n

I believe the reference was for the "U.S." automobile industry.

They are second tier is terms of total sales. Much more often than

...and trying to imply these smaller companies products are somehow inferior in quality
Much more often than not, the thing that starts flame wars is not implications, it's inferences.

In our area my "second tier" Kioti was around 5 thousand dollars less than a comparable "Big Three" tractor. It was the difference between me having and not having a tractor. I didn't even consider Kioti or any other "second tier" brand in my search, had my heart set on a NH or Bota. After looking at Kioti I was impressed with the quality fit and finish enough to buy one. I've not seen anybody put down the big three, but you guys seem a little touchy when somebody mentions a "second tier" machine as being equal in quality. There was a time not long ago when Kubota was the new kid on the block and now they own the block. Time will tell if some of these "second tier" guys will prevail. I have to tell you, all things being equal, I'd buy a Kioti again, but would be just as proud to own a Deere, NH, or Kubota. I've said it before, I'm just glad to own a tractor.

I don't think anyone put Kioti down. /forums/images/graemlins/confused.gif I think the statement Dargo made was that certain people keep jumping into these forums telling others that Kioti is a great tractor (which I think it is very good) with many more options for a much lower price. I think Dargo was saying that isn't always the case. It wasn't for me. Kubota was cheaper than Kioti when I priced them out. I think he wanted more facts put into people's statements instead of incorrect blanket statements. I think it was Gippolit that said it is 5000 cheaper. Maybe for him, but it has been shown time and time again that Kioti is NOT always the cheapest, but people keep saying it is. Give facts on the tractor you think would do the job for the person asking and let them get prices. I almost didn't call Kubota because I was told Kioti would save me a TON.(my mistake) Well, I'm glad I priced them and compared. You can mention your savings, but don't act like Kioti or any other brand will save over another brand, because you don't know. (unless you are from the posters area) I know Gippolit is aware of this fact since I have posted my findings in followup to his statement several times. He continues to post how Kioti is cheaper though. I've read many posts saying the same thing happened to many people. Almost every forum asking tractor advice ussually has a comment about "Kioti will save you a ton and offers so much more that the so called big three" I'm pretty sure the posters know that isn't always the case, but I continue to see it. Maybe I should bold it /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif

Thanks for posting that, Rico304. Nice summary. Although I think the "my brand is a lot cheaper, has more features, and has just as good support and quality" type post is probably not having the affect people think it has on people out to get a new tractor. It sounds like a salesman trying to get you to buy their brand, not like a tractor owner discussing tractors. Most likely, such posts have an affect contrary to the posters motives. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Shoot, I wouldn't worry about it at all. Everything here is opinion with some facts thrown in to confuse the issue. /forums/images/graemlins/grin.gif If you'll notice in my post above I stated "in my area" when discussing price. If Kioti had been priced the same as the big three I'd still be clearing brush with my machetti. I usually recommend people give them a look, their a nice machine, doesn't mean anybody else's isn't. : /forums/images/graemlins/wink.gif

I was all set to purchase the CK30 with shuttle this spring -- what a beauty! I really loved the features, looks, dealer. Shoot, I was settled.

Just to convince myself that I was getting the most tractor for the $$, I got written quotes from the other major brands.

This ended with me sitting in the seat of a Kubota L3400DT (gears) for just over 1000$ less (in my area!!). Granted, the L3400 is a different machine: fewer features and creature comforts, but more hp and better dealer support and resale in my area.

I had heard so much impassioned debate to the contrary on this forum that I was completely surprised to find this machine.

I couldn't be happier with the L3400. I am certain I would have been happy with the CK30, too, if I had been able to get it for less $$.

Enjoy the hunt!

Shawn
