Comparing a Prestige to a BX 1500 is like comparing a Kubota GR2000 to a BX. Totally different classes of machines, intended for different needs...
==================
I'm not comparing a Prestige to a BX 1500 but I am comparing the cost between his 2 options.

IF economics do not allow me to get the BX 1500 I really want,
then I need to spend probably $5-6000 for a lawn or garden tractor and a snow blower.
************ I read this as His first choice is a BX 1500 and his second choice is a lawn and garden tractor.

All I'm saying is.
If both tractors are $6000.oo why not go with the first choice rather than the second choice?

You picked the more expensive Simplicity alternative to compare... so, why don't you pick a more expensive BX to compare?

I recommended the Conquest, which also has the diff-lock for traction... and they can be bought at around $4500. Their list price is higher.

1*You are comparing your best dealer price with a suggested retail price of another company.

1*Right you are. I hadn't realized that so to rectify that matter I went to my local Kubota and Simplicity dealers and got tractor prices from both of them.

Thanks for calling it to my attention.

The Simplicity Prestige came in at $6195.
The kubota BX 1500 was $6200.

Features that were included at no extra cost on the $6200 BX 1500 but were either additional cost extras or not even available on the $6195 prestige.

Diesel engine BX1500 no charge. Prestige not available
Rear PTO bx1500 no charge. Prestige not available
3 point hitch bx1500 no charge. Prestige not available
Four wheel drive bx1500 no charge. Prestige not available
ROPS no charge. Prestige not available

What mower deck came with both units?

Also, my local Simplicty dealer has a Prestige with 50" deck for under $5500. My local Kubota dealer bx1500 was over 7k, and not sure if that even came with a mower.

Here are a cou[le of recent prices i got on a BX1500.

Local dealer without mower $6200

Athens Ohio dealer $7300 with mower.

Less Current $500 rebate would bring these figures down to $5700 and $6800 respectively.

I just got a 42" snow blower for my Simplicity Conquest off ebay for a little over $300. Ive seen them go cheaper, but this was 20 miles from my house and appears to be in excellent shape. I'll need to get a hitch and adapter to run it off my machine, but figure I have a coupe months yet to get that done. Anyway, my grand total should be around 5k for the new tractor and used but in good shape snow blower. Looking forward to the snow now.

Let us know what you eventualy choose...

Two acres isn't all that much grass-so long as you have a good sized mower. When I was growing up we had a 6 acre lot. Around 4 acres was wooded and the rest was mowed grass. We used a Gravely two wheel tractor for all of it. The machine was a wonderful piece of work. All gear transmission with shaft drives. The only drawback was the poor ground speed. Around 4mph tops. The later 4 wheel tractors kicked up the HP to over 20hp and had a higher ground speed to boot. I know that you could get good used tractor with the attachments for your budget. Oh, and you wanted a good snowblower. Gravely was been making blowers for 60 years and they had a bunch of real winners. The best blower is the one where the chute rotates around the impeller. That blower will throw the snow 60'. No lie. No other residental blower even comes close.

This is a cherry early model http://cgi.ebay.com/GRAVELY-816S-RIDER-WITH-DIRT-SNOW-BLADE-50-MOWER_W0QQitemZ7713915785QQcategoryZ71270QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

This is one of the 9000 series. I've never actually seen one before. Yes, the hp rating is correct. http://cgi.ebay.com/Gravely-GMT-9000_W0QQitemZ7714385002QQcategoryZ71270QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem

Not sure why someone would state parts are hard to get for Simplicity. Maybe for some of their 40+ year old tractors still running you might have to scramble to get parts, but anything relatively new is no problem. Their dealer network is pretty extensive as well.

Thank you all for your help. Things change!! I ended up getting a BX 2230. I knew I would kick myself every time I got on if I didn't do it. Jumped right past the BX 1500 too! Well, thanks again for all of your guidance.
