Your main squeeze doesn't sound like a shrinking violet

I have HST on my Bobcat CT230 but it also requires setting the parking brake to leave the operator's seat while the engine is running, otherwise it does a forced shut down. Frankly, having a tractor that didn't require that would be an inherently unsafe condition. Don't bother looking for one unless you have an expensive insurance policy on your significant other that you're looking to collect on.

Anything in the 30 to 40 hp range sounds good to me for your needs. Get one with a cab though. Cab keeps your missus from looking like Frosty the Snowman's wife, and keeps crap that might be thrown up by the flail mower off you and her. And yeah, I know, a cab would probably keep you from parking it in your garage. There are tradeoffs for everything.

Hmm, my 3120 does not do this. I can start it up and leave the seat without putting the parking break on and it doesn't shut down. I don't find it as a safety hazard, more a idiot hazard. When the PTO is on is a different story though, shuts down right away. My lawn tractor (JD 345) shuts down when I get off and my 5410 (85HP shuttle). I really don't see much hazard in this though. The HST slows everything down, so even if it does start to roll, its not going fast.

The 3038 doesn't unfortunately come with a cab as an option but Sims makes an aftermarket one for it. Im not quite sure how well the work or how much cheaper they are than a factory cab. When its all said and done it might just be cheaper to buy a factory cab.

My wife sat in the JD and Kubota's and she really liked the operators station of the JD. She said she the kubota were harder to push and reach.

It might be that I am trying to find a tractor to fill too many niches. Maybe a b series or a 1026 would better suit her needs. Which might end up being our overall plan. Than clearance is a non-issue, she can have a front mount blower which she wanted anyways, and we can go with a MMM. Than the biggest issue becomes difficulty in hooking/unhooking the blower and mower. I believe JD has this area pretty well sealed for ease of use if I remember correctly.

Might just have to keep the kubota too for the firewood. Oh darn :D

This is a very biased comparison, but still it does point out things you should be thinking about. And like the others, you really need to try them out first.

Don't forget the MF 1600 series, Mahindras or Kiotis if you have a dealer near you. As has been said, take the Mrs and try them all. My wife, a 125 pound weakling by day who works in an office setting turns into a monster in Kamiks when on my 135 and clearing snow using a back blade. Sometimes regret making her aware of the feeling you get when in the seat.
