I have a six foot ground rod that I need to remove and I have a BX25, what would be the best way to do this without damaging the pasture to much?

I'd take a sledge and drive it flush and go to Lowes and get a new one. :)

I had a neighbor that got some sort of grip on one of these with a chain, and then was able to get it started by using 1 of the lift arms on the tractor 3 point chained to the rod. He said he pulled it the rest of the way out with the front loader. Ken Sweet

handyman jack and a chain. hook the chain at the ground make a loop close to the rod and put it over the lift foot of the jack. jack her up. repeat untill it pulls out by hand. but i you insist on using the tractor do the same thing but curl your bucket up and hook your chain on the cutting edge and lift. personaly id use the handyman.

Pulled one out about a month ago at the neighbors. Put a chain around it were it still had the clamp attaching a bit of wire to it and up it came. It was very close to their shed, used my backhoe to pull it out. I have it, just a bit bent, not sure if I'll find a use for it, may ending up going to the dump. :D
This one was in the ground almost 30 years.

A regular slip hook on a chain wrap it around the rod 5 or 6 times and cinch it back and lift away when you run out of stroke slack off and it will slide down rod and lift again it will regrip with out getting out of seat.

I would ask why you need to remove it.

I agree with the poster to drive it in further or cut it off below the surface. Surely you aren't trying to reuse it?

I guess if it was in an area that you would plow every year you would want to remove it... but other than that, I would just "conceal" it.
