I put this under Buying Advice, but I really need Selling Advice. What is the best way to sell a tractor and all the attachments?

I've listed it here in the classified section, but does anybody have any good experience with Craigslist or eBay, etc? I have a Deere 4120 with grapple, forks, brush hog, chipper and stump grinder, and I'd like to sell it all as a complete package instead of breaking it up.

Any advice is much appreciated.

I have had good luck selling on Craigslist just beware of scammers. It is probably your best bet as it targets the local area and tractors are not cheap to move long distances.

There are fourteen tractors for sale via eBay, within 50 miles of Zip Code 44202 at this moment.

Take a look: Tractors | eBay

With eBay and Paypal, you know you are going to be paid.

I sold my Kubota B3300SU tractor and four implements on eBay, individually. I listed the tractor at a fixed price of $14,000, the implements by auction. None of the purchasers elected to visit and inspect the equipment before bidding and paying. The tractor sold locally. The implements were purchased by out-of-state buyers from Texas and Georgia who picked up. I did not ship.

EBay is a business. Be prepared for its seller fees. You pay only if the listed item(s) sell.

You will be paid, just not for long. There is a paypal scam that has been running around for sometime. You will get an offer for your item with a story of the buyer unable to come and see the item, so he will pay you by PayPal and send a hauler to pick it up. Your item is now likely in Canada, Mexico, or otherwise located where you can't find it. The buyer claims the item wasn't as described and PayPal side with the buyer and refunds his money.

If someone asks if you have a verified PayPal account, counter with an escrow account from your bank. Likely you will never hear back.

Craigslist and cash.

I absolutely refuse to deal with Paypal and rarely ever mess with feebay.

I have sold several implements and a tractor on Craig's list.
I would decide it up as not everyone will need each implement so it is mostly better for both you as the seller.

I've bought and sold tractors, motorcycles, cars, etc. on Craigslist with success.

Offer it as a package but willing to sell implements separate. List price of tractor and each individually with a discount if taking total package. Same strategy dealers use when bundling for a new sale.

Thanks for the heads up, I hadn't heard about that.

EBay is a huge public company, listed on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange. EBay completed 2015 with 11,600 employees. EBAy is #466 on Forbe's list of Global 2,000 Business Titans. All depends on eBay's reputation for running and policing an effective, ethical, marketplace.

Paypal is a rapidly growing independent public company, listed on the NASDAQ Stock Exchange, spun off from eBay.

These organizations have hundreds of contract attorneys, practicing in every state, protecting their reputations and their marketplaces.

Once seller is paid, buyer's recourse is against eBay, not the seller. It is possible a buyer could get a refund from eBay under odd circumstances but not from the seller, unless the seller volunteers a refund. The idea of eBay or Paypal raiding a seller's account from either a legal or procedural matter, across two independent companies, is absurd.

EBay's services and protection are not cheap; be prepared for eBay's seller fees. Fees are clearly disclosed before an item is shown for sale on eBay's site.

Two years ago I sold a moderately heavy tractor fitting on eBay. The buyer contacted me after the box arrived, open and empty, because I had not taped it securely. I gave the buyer a full refund, fitting and shipping. Shame on me for not applying another ten cents worth of tape. EBay refunded my auction fee automatically.
