Best weed trimmer string?

Lowe's "Ugly Line" worked pretty well in the Stihl that I had. After I burned a hole in the piston on that trimmer I bought a Red Max. The Red Max line looks like a a round line with a smaller diameter round line molded over it. The smaller line spirals around the center line. It does not un-spool very well if at all so I have to pop the head apart to release some new line though I may not have yet learned how to wrap it so it un-spools better. I won't get upset though because this line is tough. It lasts and it cuts through some pretty heavy vegetation.

Im going to go with Husqvarna Titanium Force. - - Not night and day, but it is better than Oregon Gator Line and others I have tried that all seemed about on par with the Gator line.

This is a good idea actually. As I lay out my farm, that's what I'm doing. Making the layout lines as round as possible to accommodate the bush hog, lawnmower, room to back up, etc. I actually like cutting grass. I hate weed-eating!

Your neighbors are right. People cook and eat dandelion greens in soup and make dandelion wine from the blossoms.

Just don't pick them from where your dog may have .............well you know.

Echo Black Diamond line is the best i've ever used. I used Echo Crossfire for a long time, and the Black Diamond line blows it away.

The Rotary Vortex line is good too, but I like the Black Diamond better. It seems to cut better at lower RPMs.

Also, the Echo Speed Feed 400 head is the greatest invention since lubricated condoms. You can buy them for $30 at any Home Depot or on Amazon. Will fit lots of different brands/models of trimmers. I can't believe I waited so long to get one.

This is a good idea actually. As I lay out my farm, that's what I'm doing. Making the layout lines as round as possible to accommodate the bush hog, lawnmower, room to back up, etc. I actually like cutting grass. I hate weed-eating!

People may scoff at that idea and it isn't really possible of practical for many on city or urban lots, but it makes a lot of sense for rural areas. I've been blowing grass clippings along my fence lines for the last couple of years and it has seriously reduced weed growth that I have to trim under and along those fences. I'm down to just trimming around the house, walks and decks and I can do a lot of that with a cordless 18V trimmer in just a few minutes. My one neighbor still spends an hour or two using a two stroke along 500 feet or more of woven wire.

Your neighbors are right. People cook and eat dandelion greens in soup and make dandelion wine from the blossoms.

I'm not sure if they're classified as vegetables or herbs, but they're used in salads too. I've never tried them and never will, just like I don't trust picking mushrooms for eating.

Interesting. His testing leads to concluding that the Husqvarna Titanium Force is best, my experience as well, but does not cover a critical parameter I think is highly pertinent. That is string failure due to repeated flexure where it exits the spool, and string welds occurring in the spool. -- A string that doesnt wear at the tip needs very little advancement and will finally fail by one of the two named maladies; both extremely inconvenient

My experience indicates the Husqvarna line has superior resistance to these failure modes.​
